Get Ready

To unwind, destress, and rejuvenate with these expert-approved tips! Your safety and well-being are of the up-most importance. To ensure that your massage experience is both effective and comfortable please take a few moments to review the information below. Please note, all personal information is treated in strict confidentiality.

Hydrate

Make sure to drink some water before and after your session. Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your overall health, here’s a great article explaining why.

Dress comfortably

Ideally, pack a plain cotton blouse or tee-shirt.
Avoid bulky jumpers, cropped tops, silk, denim or canvas.
If wearing a shirt, consider loosening the top two buttons.
Remove necklaces, belts, bangles & rings prior to the session.
Hot & sweaty after exercise? Try to swap your session to cool down.
Kick off those shoes if it helps!

Eat

Chair massage can very occasionally bring on feelings of dizziness leading to fainting, especially if you have a history of this. Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), due to fasting is another common precursor.

So, please eat something modest, but nutritious like a banana or energy bar a few hours before your massage. Avoid big meals just before your massage.

Arrive on time

Only so you get more chair time!

Communicate

It’s good to talk! I’ll check in with you during your massage, but feel free to request less or more pressure at any time, and always mention if something is uncomfortable.

Is there an area of the body you’d prefer to avoid?

Physical Conditions

Please let me know if any of the following apply to you:

long-term or recent injuries
recent surgery
on-going treatment
history of dizziness
high blood pressure
mobility issues (restricted movement)
phlebitis
DVT
oedema
varicose veins
swelling joints
heart issues
stroke
any other issue that you feel may be relevant

If you have any concerns or uncertainties, please contact your doctor before your appointment.

Pregnancy / conception

It is recommended to avoid massage until after the first trimester, which is typically around week 13.

Light massage can be beneficial after week 13 but caution must be taken to avoid firm pressure and certain pressure points which can, in rare circumstances induce labor.

Medication

Please let me know if you are taking any medications that may impact your massage, such as painkillers or blood pressure medication.

If you have any concerns or uncertainties, please contact your doctor prior to your appointment.

Feeling unwell

Have you, or anyone you are in close contact with, had any signs or symptoms associated with coronavirus?

If you are feeling unwell or have a cold, I kindly ask that you refrain from receiving a massage. See you next time!

‘Do not disturb’

Switch your phone and / or smart-watch to ‘Do not disturb’. You’ll enjoy your session much more without distractions.

Relax

Take some deep, slow breaths, guide here at the beginning or anytime during your session. You could also try to focus on the soothing background music. Allow yourself to unwind, you may forget you’re even at work!
